Fraud & Account Security FAQ

How can I protect my personal and financial information?

Never share personal or financial details over the phone, email, or text. Avoid unsolicited messages or job scams that ask for money upfront. Use prepaid cards when shopping online from unfamiliar retailers and avoid entering debit card info on untrusted sites — especially overseas businesses, where fraud is more common.

What should I do if I suspect fraud on my account?

First, review your account for recent transactions or subscriptions. If you recognize the charge but want to cancel, contact the merchant directly.

If you do not recognize the charge, contact A&S immediately and we’ll begin a fraud investigation.

I received a message claiming to be from A&S FCU’s fraud department. Is it legitimate?

Our fraud department may contact you to confirm suspicious transactions, but they will never ask for personal details like your full SSN or online banking credentials. If you’re unsure, hang up and call us directly.

Will my check be put on hold?

Some checks may be held for up to 10 business days — especially if they are high dollar amounts, from out-of-state banks, or appear suspicious. This helps us protect your account from fraud.

Can I use my debit card for rental car transactions?

Debit cards are not accepted for rental car transactions, as these merchants often place temporary holds or adjust the final charge amount without informing our members. Using a credit card is recommended for these types of purchases. Want to apply for an A & S FCU Visa? Visit the Loan Application Center to get started.
